First concert in our new home!

At last, the builders are all but gone, most of the boxes are unpacked and Salon Music is able to welcome the Korros Ensemble to give our first concert in our new home!

Next Thursday evening, July 7th, they will start with a little Scarlatti and then treat us to pieces both by contemporary composers and by Elizabeth Poston whose music Korros have done so much to rediscover and put on the map.

Scarlatti arr.Ellis – Sonata in D Major k.96 no.465
Howard Blake – Pennillion – in a special arrangement by the composer for Korros
Catrin Finch – Nuntii
Cheryl Frances-Hoad – Vocalise – in a special arrangement by the composer for Korros
Elizabeth Poston – Three pieces for Flute and Harp. Thought to have been lost but recently rediscovered by an elderly harpist who worked with Poston.
Elizabeth Poston – Forma for Harp (1958) Written for the celebrated harpist of the time, Maria Korchinska but never published.

Following the concert we will have a celebratory supper which, if the weather gods smile on us, could spill out into the garden. Below are our FreeFrom Skincare Awards judges having lunch on the patio last week – but I should warn you that the rest of the garden is in a ‘much earlier state of development’! However,  those with horticultural imaginations will, I am sure, be able to envisage how it might look by this time next year.

Meanwhile, Boris is still waiting, rather impatiently now, for the music to begin…

… and we are looking forward to Eliza, Camilla  and Nick’s arrival.
