Upcoming Events

This list is primarily for events happening at Hampstead Lane, the Highgate School Chapel or the Highgate Society, but we may also occasionally include other performances by artists who have played for us or which have some local relevance.

If you are interested in old instrument performance whether of Baroque or modern music, take a look at Continuo Connect which has very comprehensive events listings right across the country.

If you live in Highgate St Michael’s Church in South Grove has free 30 minute lunchtime concerts on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays given by students or alumni of the Royal College of Music – and regular free concerts on Saturdays at Six. They also have a number of choral services and events each month.

Saturday 16th May  – Leighton House

Vermeer Chamber Concerts. The Bloomsbury Players play Schubert.

More details and to book, go here.

Sunday 24th May – 10a South Grove

Highgate Society Sunday Lunchtime concert – Emilija Karaliute and her delightful Lithuanian Kanklés

Go here to book.

21st June – Hampstead Lane – Garden opening for the National Gardens Scheme

We will be opening both the main garden and our Growing Garden for the National Gardens Scheme again this year – lots of home made scones and cakes – and, I am delighted to say, Ian Baker and his splendid saxophone quartet who played for us last year. To book in advance (and to see all the other wonderful gardens that are open for the NGS) go here.

Friday 24th July – Sunday 2nd August – Islington Festival

Chamber concerts and recitals, coffee concerts, jazz, swing dance and yoga – over two packed weekends.

For full details of all events and to book.

Tuesday 8th September – Hampstead Lane

From the aulos to the oboe, the lyre to the concert harp.
Harpist Hugh Webb and oboist Melinda Maxwell will take us from the aulos, the ancient Greek double pipe, and the lyre, instrument of Apollo, up through the ages. Stopping off briefly with Marin Marais and CPE Bach, skipping two centuries to Debussy and Ravel and arriving at a new work for harp and oboe by Simon Holt.

Go here for more details and to book.
