Some of you may remember that last year I posted about Sound Voice – the wonderful organisation that gives a voice to those who have lost theirs through cancer, Parkinson’s or any of the other conditions which can prevent one singing or even talking.
So I was very excited to hear that the Sound Voice Project has been nominated for the European FEDORA Digital Prize 2022.
As part of this, they will be creating an exciting new immersive installation, The Singing Willow. This will be a unique snapshot of how different communities perceive and understand their own and each other’s voice, from hospitals throughout the UK to a growing number of locations across the globe.
To help make this project happen, they are running a crowdfunding campaign through the FEDORA platform – but only until the 30th of November. If you are able to, please show your support. As they say, a donation of £3 (the price of a cup of coffee!) can have a great impact.
You can watch this video below to learn more about their campaign, and follow the link in the video’s description to make your donation before the 30th of November.
Just to say: it sounds a great project, but my advice is: in donating, go the Fedora platform, (the first option), not the TGE one, unless you plan to donate at least £100. The TGE option might qualify the donation for Gift Aid, but they refuse anything under £100 due to “complications in processing”. What happened to the widow’s mite? I was nearly put off, but tried option 1, my more modest euro amount went through fine, and I can’t help thinking the funds may get to that target quicker if people with less than £100 to spare are allowed to contribute.
Thank you Emma, for that clarification. I had meant to add that but was so late in the posting that I completely forgot. I did contact Sound Voice about it originally and they said that, for whatever reason, that was the nly way that Fedora could do it. I now don’t feel such an idiot for making the same mistake!
