Summer jazz party – 18th August

Our jazz party in the garden last year was such a success that we are having another one! On Sunday 18th August. So please start praying for good weather right now!

And because everyone enjoyed their music so much last year, we have invited Sol Grimshaw and his group to come back and play for us again.

They will be ‘on’ at 3pm and then again at 5pm but we would be delighted to see everyone from 1.30pm through till the evening.

Bread, cheese, snacks, beer and wine (including GF/DF/vegan) will be on tap throughout.

We are inviting not just Salon Music guests but family, neighbours from Highgate and Belsize Park and FreeFrom Food Awards colleagues – so we hope that everyone will both see old friends and make new ones.

As last year I am happy to say that this is a party rather than a paying event although I will be reimbursing the musicians for their labours. However, if you were up for making a small donation to swell their take home pot, they would really appreciate it. Details on how to do so on the booking page.

Even though this is a free event please ‘book’ here so that we have some idea of how many people will be coming.

But before that, do not forget that on…

8th July at 6.30pm – Flanders and Swann will be performing!

All of those wonderful songs that we all remember – the Hippopotamus, the GNU, the Gasman Cometh, the Slow Train….. Followed by a classic 1950s supper – Prawn cocktail, Coronation chicken, Egg mayonnaise, Blancmange!

And meanwhile…..  ‘Our’ Michael Flanders, William Godfree’s new musical, Longitude is playing at Upstairs at the Gatehouse until July 7th.

Do try and catch it – I went over the weekend and it is tremendous. An amazing story, a great cast, some excellent songs and all rendered with catching enthusiasm and verve.

Sunday 14th July – Highgate Society lunchtime concert

Hannah Shilvock & Viola Lenzi – clarinet and piano duo. Traditional Jewish melodies, Hungarian folk dances, Argentinain Tangos and the Gymnopédies of Eric Satie. Sounds like a fun concert! Book here.

And…. Running till the 25th July

The Islington Festival – three weeks of great chamber music and much, much else. Check out what is on offer and book here.

For other happenings in July, at Hampstead Lane and elsewhere – see our Upcoming Events page.
