27th November 6.30pm – Shirley Smart & Dominic Ingham – book here.
Following on from our excellent evening of contemporary cello music last night with William Jack (of which more anon) we are happy to remind you that we have more cello music to come with Shirley Smart at the end of the month.
In a slight change of programme Shirley will be joined by Dominic Ingham as Toby Medland is no longer free. And instead of Kodaly they will be playing music by Kodaly’s best friend Béla Bartók – some of his duos for violin and cello – on which they will also improvise. Followed by some jazz – both classical and contemporary.
Shirley is one of UK’s most versatile and creative cellists – equally at home in jazz, Middle Eastern music (she lived for 10 years in Jerusalem) and the classical music in which she originally trained.
Dominic is a composer and performer of original and pioneering new music. With his quintet he appears regularly at Ronnie Scotts, Kings Place, the Barbican and the EFG London Jazz Festival.
It sounds like a really exciting musical evening….
Will supper manage to match it? We’ll work on that!
Meanwhile…
