Last few tickets for Sunday’s concert – and………

We are delighted that we will have the film maker Sheila Hayman joining us. Sheila is Fanny Mendelssohn’s great, great grand daughter and a huge fan – and….. Shiela has just made a documentary about her – Fanny: The Other Mendelssohn with Isata Kanneh-Mason playing, among others, Queen Victoria’s piano. Check in to this article in Variety to learn more – but Shiela has also promised to talk to us about it.

And just to remind you – on Sunday evening Debbie, Poppy, Becky and Emma, the Hanover Square Quartet, will be playing:

Quartet in E Minor Emilie Mayer (1812-1883) 1851.
Quartet in F Minor Op. 80 Felix Mendelssohn
Quartet in Eb Major Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel (1805-1847)

Supper to follow will be an early 19th century buffet……  A Salamagundy (a much loved centrepiece), broad bean tarts, a large raised pie – and some very English Stilton.

Book here for 7th May concert

6.30 for drinks; 7pm for the concert; 8.15 buffet supper – all included in the ticket price of £28

Upcoming concerts

Sunday 11th June – Highgate Society Lunchtime concert – 12 noon – The Reliables

Founded in 2015 by Californian-North Londoner Dave Barrows (sax, flute) and Rob Pfeiffer (guitar, vocal), Highgate resident and long term lay minister at St Michael’s. As a composer duo, Dave and Rob took the band through an initial 60s, West Coast Jazz vibe but recent compositions have moved towards African dance grooves, classical Indian music and modern Jazz.
They will be playing sax, guitar and bass accompanied by some clever music software (Dave’s day job is code writer), allowing them to expand the trio format in all kinds of exciting ways.

£15 to include copious quantities of Bucks Fizz – Book here

Thursday 13th July –  evening – Thomas Hardy poems set to song

A new song cycle by Arthur Keegan for guitar and voice setting five of Hardy’s poems about his first wife Emma.

£28 to include buffet supper and wine – more details very soon
