Now in its third (or is it its fourth?….) year – the festival runs from the the 5th to the 20th of July and has a wonderfully eclectic mix of musical delights to offer.

Opening concert on the 5th at St Mary’s Islington – it’s all about the Czechs – Smetana, Martinu and Dvořák with Joana Ly (violin), Miguel Ángel Villeda Cerón (cello) and Martin André (piano).
Saturday 6th at St Mary’s – it’s all about grand opera – arias by Donizetti, Mascagni, Puccini, Rossini and Verdi with Sky Ingram (soprano), Breton Spiteri (tenor) and Fran Hills (piano).
The totally delightful Little Angel Theatre in Dagmar Passage is hosting several late night concerts:
- 6th July at 9pm – Baroque violin masterworks with Kati Debretzeni on her baroque violin
- 13th July at 9pm – Postcards from home – documenting the travels of 3 musicians from the different backgrounds of Indian music, Western Classical & Jazz with Jacqueline Shave (violin), John Parricelli (guitar) and Kuljit Bhamra (tabla)
- 19th July at 9pm – Solo Bach with Miguel Ángel Villeda Cerón and his cello.
Meanwhile, the festival’s ‘home’ church, Christchurch Highbury, will be hosting:
On Thursday 18th July – pianist Dmitri Kalashnikov who was such success last year, playing Sibelius, Chopin and Liszt
On Saturday 20th – the Grande Finale concert – Kaprálová, Janáček and Dvořák with Francesca Barritt and Joan Ly (violins), Dan Shilladay (viola), Su-a Lee (cello) and Martin André (piano)
In between you can enjoy:
Yoga sessions with a cello or a harp, contemporary dance, a coffee concert at the Green in Clerkenwell, tea time jazz at the Piazza in Angel Central and a walking concert around the Angel!!
