A collateral benefit of logging in to Joanna Macgregor’s exciting concert last weekend is that I am now on Voces8‘s mailing list and have just received an email about this Sunday’s concert with Emma Kirkby. So I am sorry for the late alert but, if you are not otherwise occupied this Sunday evening you could tune into what sounds like a super attractive Mothering Sunday concert.
Emma will be joined by Toby Carr (theorbo), Helen Charlston (mezzo-soprano), Chris Glynn (piano), Patricia Hammond (mezzo-soprano), Aileen Henry (baroque harp) and Matt Redman (accordion, banjo, guitar, organ) for a for a journey through many centuries stopping off with:
- Hildegarde of Bingen
- Monteverdi
- Merula
- Purcell
- Clemence de Grandval
- Copland
- Margarita Mimi Fariña.
You can just buy a ticket for the evening for £12.50 or you could sign up to a season ticket – £80 for 10 concerts, which sounds like a pretty good deal.
And if you missed Joanna’s concert last weekend, you can catch the highlights here on YouTube.

Heard Emma K on R3 last night I think talking about this with Sean Rafferty; am huge admirer of hers – got her and Anthony to do voice and lute for film about Giorgione decades back and they were lovely and brilliant
