Shakespeare in Music
Historically informed Shakespearean music for ‘broken consort’, Elizabethan madrigals, Shakespearean drinking songs, jazz settings of Shakespeare’s words, Shakespeare in rap, music for lute and tenor and lute and counter tenor. Even Shakespeare inspired scores from William Walton for Laurence Olivier.
All of this – and more – is to be found at the second Shakespeare in Music Festival in Stratford on Avon from 20th-23rd April.
And on February 14th we are inviting you to preview the festival with us.
There will be music……
From Bloomsbury Baroque – William Summers (flute and recorder), Diane Moore (violin) and Yeo Yat-Soon (harpsichord) to include pieces by Dowland, Morley, Handel, Willem de Fesch and William Byrd.
And from Imogen Emmett (harp) and Laura Moisey-Gray (viola) of the Painted Fall including pieces by Thomas Arne, Elizabeth Maconcy, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Taylor Swift and Paul Simon!
There will be talking….
Martyn Bond, Chair of Trustees, will be talking to you about the festival.
There will be food and drink…
Bubbles and soft drinks, delicious cheeses, tasty snacks, refreshing fruits.
We would love you to join us to learn all about it.
And we hope that you will be so enthused that not only will you book for many of the events, but you will support the festival by signing up as Friends (at a very special introductory rate….)
If you would like to join us on 14th February at 33 Hampstead Lane (N6 4RT) for a special Valentine’s introduction to Shakespeare in Music – please email me telling me how many tickets you would like.
