On Wednesday evening tune in to the Home Concert Club to hear our own Madeleine Mitchell plus soprano Lucinda Cox and pianist Tom Jesty.
The Home Concert club was set up last March to offer audiences an experience of live music in a world where live concerts were no more while providing paid opportunities for musicians to perform. They also offer technical support for the musicians to enable them to get the best out of an online performance. And here they are, nearly a year later, still being forced by COVID to offer those very same services. But thank goodness they are – giving us yet another opportunity both to listen to ‘real’ performances and to help support live music.
On Wednesday Madeleine will be joined by pianist Nigel Clayton and they will be creating a ‘salon soirée’ programme for you including music by Elgar and Frank Bridge.
They will be followed by soprano Lucinda Cox and pianist Tom Jesty who will be performing songs by women composers from Germany, France, England, and the United States and from the mid 19th century to the present day.
Lucy began working with pianist Tom Jesty during their time at Oxford. They are finalists in the 2020 John Kerr Award for English Song – which has been rescheduled for June 2021. Lucy has been involved in several online projects during the pandemic, including making learning material for the Self-Isolation Choir and performing in the Marian Consort’s digital season.
