‘Arwen, wife of Aragorn, once gave Frodo a necklace with a white stone, which would aid him when the darkness of his injuries troubled him…’
Sadly our Arwen came too late to save our Frodo from his injuries, but we hope that his spirit will live on in her…. Not that there is any direct relationship since Frodo was pure bred Norwegian Forest cat whereas Arwen’s mum is Siberian and her dad is a Persian Teacup!! So no one is quite sure what Arwen may grow into…
Meanwhile, she is very much herself….
and is making herself very much at home….
She is 14 weeks old and has now been with us for two weeks, during which she has more or less doubled in size!
And after the first 24 hours, she has been very keen to explore her new home – although, I am relieved to say, with somewhat more circumspection than her predecessor, the Billy the Kid. She has moved from living in the kitchen, to being taken from room to room with us to, now, being allowed to roam the whole house…. Very exciting!!
She has been outside, as you can see, but only under supervision on the patio. We mistakenly put her down on the grass near the ivy ‘wall’ early on and she took fright and bolted into the bottom of the ivy and then tried to climb up inside it. Small though she was it proved quite difficult to extract her. Now she is happily exploring all of the pots and plants around the patio but, thank goodness, has not yet ventured beyond.
However, if exploring is great, shoulders are even greater!! Offer her a nice comfy shoulder and she is anyone’s and will lie there for hours, purring loudly and watching the world go by.
And how is she getting on with Boris and Mushkin?
Well, Mushkin has, to all intents and purposes, moved house to our neighbours across the garden so he is not really an issue. They have met once or twice and backed off from a closer acquaintance.
Boris, on the other hand, has been a good deal more interested. They have sniffed around each other, backed away, then sniffed again. I have now seen them touch noses on several occasions – which has to be pretty positive – and today I found the two of them lying flat out on the landing together. I did not have a camera at the time but about an hour later I found them looking pretty chilled together here in my study. Watch this space for further developments…
