On November 3rd we will be meeting the J.A.M. String Collective – Julia Dos Reis (viola), Annalise Lam (violin), and Miranda Lewis-Brown (cello).
Julia and Miranda met in 2015 through String Ting, a pioneering programme devised and led by Tomorrow’s Warriors’ artistic director, Gary Crosby to encourage and enable more string players from classical and other backgrounds to explore the world of jazz. They were joined last year by Annalise who they had met at Tomorrow’s Warriors workshop.
Together they play contemporary jazz – re-imagining works by jazz heavyweights such as Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk and Kenny Wheeler as well as their own compositions. They have already appeared at Ronnie Scott’s, the Pizza Express Club Soho and The Purcell Room at Southbank Centre.
If you would like to get a flavour of their music check in to YouTube here or here, or their Instagram feed where you will find a number of short videos.
The evening will include wine and a light buffet supper as usual.
